Why Video is Effective – and How to Use It
Here are 5 ways you can grow your Amazon business or your E-commerce offer through video:
You can use your phone to shoot short-form video. To best shoot a talking head about your product/service, find decent lighting (natural lighting works best), project your voice, make sure you don’t have any mess in the background and use quick editing to remove pauses and keep the tempo of the video going. If editing isn’t for you, Trendy Grandad offers an editing package that eases the time-consuming nature of the video process.
Video allows you to tell a story easier than pictures, and you can use sound to your advantage, using music or sound effects to appeal to your demographic. Product videos can highlight the benefits and features clearly and allows transparency- it’s easy to edit pictures but a lot more difficult to doctor a video. A great way to attract buyers would be to use a mixture of lifestyle photography and product images or diagrams and utilising image spaces to your advantage.
Just using the word ‘video’ in an email subject line can increase open rates by 19% and clicks by 65%. Of course, follow through with this promise and include a video at the end of the email! Sales-y emails can be off-putting and most people won’t read to the end. Personalising the email with their name and business is great in text, but why not go one further and send them a unique video message?
A page is 53 times more likely to be on the first page of Google if it has a video on it, especially if it’s a video that’s uploaded to YouTube first as it is an affiliate site. The more time people spend on this page watching a video improves your SEO ranking and drives more people to your site. Be wary of what you title your video as this can also affect SEO.
But how can YOU use video?
Think of your product/service. Does it have a special feature, do you have an interesting brand story? Write notes and upload a 30-45 second clip highlighting this information. Create organic content (Trendy Grandad told us this means free content) and get your voice out there. What have you got to lose?
How to Use Video to Improve Your Amazon Product Pages and Drive Sales
Some advice here for you especially. Take a moment to audit your Amazon visuals. Have you got photos of your product from different angles, in different stages of the process (i.e. if it comes in a box, do you have a picture of it out of the box set up)? Focus on popular products.
